Salsa & rueda CLasses
beginner salsa
We teach Beginner Salsa in cohorts, meaning that the entire course lasts 4 months at which point students can join our Intermediate course. You do not need to commit to all 4 months. Our next cohort begins in February.
What to Expect:
Our Salsa class will guide you through the fundamentals of Cuban-style salsa, including basic steps, timing, and the essential turns and moves that characterize Casino dancing. You will learn how to lead or follow in a partner setting, and how to interpret the music to make your dance both fluid and dynamic. Beginners welcome!

- No partner needed, LGBT+ friendly
- Come as you are! Sneakers welcome.
- Some prior dance experience (like the Fundamentals Course) recommended
When We Offer Salsa:
Our 4 month cohorts begin every few months. We also offer workshops from RVA instructors which is a great place to try it out without a monthly commitment.

What to Expect:
Our Rueda class is alot like American square dancing, but for salsa and in a circle not a square. In the Rueda, two or more couples dance Cuban style salsa patterns that are directed by one of the dancers, known as the caller. The caller will call out different Cuban salsa patterns that might involve switching partners, clapping, yelling, stomping, or just about any movement your creative mind can think of. IT IS THE MOST FUN YOU WILL EVER HAVE.
