Dates: Mondays in March 6-7pm
Location: 107 W Beverley St Staunton VA
Class Overview:
In this class, you will learn the basic steps of bachata. Our classes offer a friendly and inclusive environment that emphasizes partner work and social interaction. Perfect for dancers of all levels, this class not only teaches the fundamental steps and techniques of bachata but also celebrates the Dominican origins and culture.
For students that already have some experience with bachata, we will offer additional combinations, add-ons, further exploration of traditional footwork, musicality, and styling. While still a beginner course, you will have ample opportunity to learn new moves and combinations in this class. After our one month course, you should feel prepared to dance at socials with confidence
What to Expect:
Our Bachata class will guide you through the fundamentals of modern bachata, including basic steps, timing, and the essential turns and moves that characterize the dance. You will learn how to lead or follow in a partner setting, and how to interpret the music to make your dance both fluid and dynamic. Each week, we build upon the foundations, gradually introducing more complex combinations and patterns. We will be learning a blend of traditional footwork as well as modern moves that incorporate more complex turning patterns and armwork. Empathy and consent are heavily emphasized. We will not be learning sensual style in this class; that said, we will direct ladies to blocking unwanted sensual style moves and offer some body isolation and styling work.
- No partner needed, LGBT+ friendly
- Come as you are! Sneakers welcome.
- Focus on getting you prepared for socials!
Cancellation Policy- We offer no refunds for any group classes, courses, or workshops. We will try to accommodate transfers if possible.
